My review on constructive tools

  What does Constructive tools mean?

A constructive tool refers to any digital or technological tool that helps students actively construct knowledge by linking new digital tools with students' prior knowledge that enables the active construction of new understanding.

Some of constructive tools include C-map, Google Classroom, PowerPoint, and Word. Concept mapping tools, such as C-map, for instance, allow students to visually organize and connect different ideas, which helps them perceive the relations among concepts.

In my view, constructive tools are digital or technological tools that help students build their own knowledge and understanding. Instead of just listening or memorizing, students use these tools to create, explore, and connect new ideas with what they already know.

Why is it important to integrate Constructive Tools in the classroom?

  • It is important to integrate constructive tools in the classroom because it:
  • Encourages active learning: Students become the creators of knowledge, rather than the listeners.
  • Encourages critical thinking: They analyze, connect, and apply what they learn.
  • Enhances creativity: Learners can design presentations, mind maps, or videos to express ideas.
  • Personalized learning is supported, with students able to learn at their own pace and connect lessons to their previous experiences.
  • Builds digital skills: Students learn the use of modern tools that are required in practice.

For example, when students design a presentation on the solar system using PowerPoint, they are actually researching, selecting visuals, and organizing information-all of which deepen their learning.

As a future teacher, from many constructive tools I would use C-map with my students to help them organize and link key ideas. For example: In Science, students can make a concept map on food habits of animals. They can use a map to connect story elements, such as characters, settings, and plot, in English. They will be able to do cause-and-effect mapping in Social Studies regarding historical events. With C-map, students visualize relationships and think critically. I will be able to lead them in creating maps together as a group, discussing ideas and reflecting on how different concepts relate to one another, thus making learning more interactive and fun.

REFLECTION ON COMMMUNICATION TOOLS

 Communication tools

Communicative tools refer to applications or technologies that help teachers and students share information, ideas, and feedback easily. These tools make two-way communication possible, whether in real time or at different times. Examples include email, Google Classroom, Padlet, and social media apps like WhatsApp or Telegram.

There are two types of communication in teaching and learning.

  1. Synchronous communication.
  2. Asynchronous communication.

  1. Synchronous Communication- means real-time communication, where people interact at the same time even if they are in different places.
👉It happens instantly — like talking face-to-face but online.
👉Examples: Zoom meetings, phone calls, live chats, or Google Meet sessions.
👉It allows immediate feedback and quick discussion.
👉 Example: A teacher and students having a live online class through Zoom or Google Meet.

  2. Asynchronous communication. - means communication that does not happen in real time. People can respond at different times, depending on their convenience.
👉It gives time to think and reflect before replying.
👉Examples: Email recorded video lessons, Padlet discussions, Google Classroom posts, or WhatsApp messages.
👉It allows flexible learning and communication.
👉 Example: A teacher uploads a recorded lecture, and students watch and comment later.

From my understanding, communication tools mean the instruments, platforms, or methods that people use to share information, ideas, and feelings with one another. These tools can be digital (like email or zoom) or non-digital (like a chalkboard or face-to-face talking). Example when people use video calls (like Zoom or Microsoft Teams), they can see and hear each other even if they are in different places.

From the many communication tools available, I will use mentimeter (word Cloud) while teaching the topic “Animals” to help students share ideas and communicate about different animals. First, I will create a mentimeter titled “Let’s Learn About Animals” with short instructions that say: “Post the name of your favorite animal, write one short sentence about it, and add a picture.” After that, I will share the mentimeter link or QR code with the students. Each student will open the mentimeter link, post a short sentence about their favorite animal, and add a picture or drawing of it.

Integrating communication tools in the classroom is very important because it makes teaching and learning more effective and engaging.

💪 Promotes interaction: These tools allow teachers and students to exchange ideas easily, making lessons more interesting.

💪Encourages teamwork: Students can cooperate on group projects, share opinions, and give feedback using tools such as Padlet, Google Classroom, or messaging apps.

💪Supports active participation: Platforms like Zoom or online discussion boards motivate students to join discussions instead of just listening passively.

💪Improves understanding: audio-visual communication tools help explain lessons more clearly, which benefits all learners.

💪 Connects people from different places: Communication tools make it possible to continue learning even when teachers and students are not physically together, such as during online learning.

💪Builds digital literacy: Students learn to use technology wisely and effectively, which prepares them for the modern world.

💪Boosts confidence and involvement: Some students find it easier to express their ideas through online platforms, helping them participate more actively.

Reflection on informative tools.

Informative tools

Informative tools are digital or non-digital resources that help us gather, organize, and share information. They include things like videos, e-books, charts, PowerPoint presentations, websites, and online articles. There are six tools which make learning easier by helping students understand topics clearly and teachers explain lessons better

These six tools are;
1) Image,
2) Video,
3) Sound,
4) Text,
5) Graphic,
6) Animation.

In my understanding, informative tools are used to make learning more meaningful and interesting. They help both teacher and students to collect, present knowledge in interesting way and allow students to learn independently and explore more beyond what is taught in class. For example, using videos from YouTube or animations in science can help learners clearly see how certain processes work. Similarly, using images or charts can make it easier for visual learners to remember information.

As a future teacher, I will use informative tools such as images, sound, video, animation, graphics, and text to make my lessons more interesting, meaningful, and interactive. These tools will help my students understand lessons better and stay motivated to learn. For example, while teaching a student about animals I can show pictures of different animals to help students identify and classify them easily.

Example of teaching students using video and sound.

I will also use informative tools while designing a learning activity.

                                   Activity 1. (Images)

Direction; write the name of animals looking at the picture.

1)

2)

Activity 2. (text)

Direction. Answer the riddles question.

1) I live on the farm and stand to the left of the red barn. I cluck and lay eggs every day. Who am I?

 —

2). I walk on four legs and wag my tail to the right when I’m happy. I guard the house and love to play fetch. Who am I?

3) I’m black and white and give milk each day, who am I?

It is important to integrate informative tools in the classroom because

  • they support different learning styles, 🕮🕮
  • improve understanding🤔,
  • prepare students for the digital world,
  •  make lessons more engaging, and effective,
  •  develop skills in using technology effectively. 📱💻...

THANKS FOR GIVING IT A READ! 👍💖
